I am desperately trying to convince myself that I do not need an iPad. The strange thing is that it’s got an awful lot to do with two companies, and very little to do with the Apple iPad.

Not every product can stand by itself. An iPhone app needs an iPhone to function, and an iPad sleeve needs an iPad to fill it.

It really says something about your product, when, although it cannot stand by itself, you have people, such as myself, who are thinking about buying the one product needed to get it functioning.

Am I being cryptic? Apologies. There is an app, and a sleeve which I think are fantastic. Both of which require an iPad to make any sense, and both of which have been out for some time, growing in popularity.

The first, the app, is Flipboard. It’s a social magazine application which gathers all the content which matters most to you, according to your various social media channels, and formats it for your viewing pleasure, in digital magazine format. Their video, featuring lonelysandwich does a great job of explaining.

The second, the sleeve, is from Freitag. Anyone who reads the blog knows how much I love this company, so it goes without saying that I find their new fix for the newest Apple product alluring. What really got me hooked though, was their press shots. The ping pong and the breakfast cook. Check out some of their other press shots here.

Well I think I just needed to come out and say it, and now that I have, I can see how ridiculous purchasing an iPad would be, just to be able to use these products. I’ll make do with an iPhone version (soon please) and my Macbook sleeve.
